StoryCorps visits Grand Rapids Everyday stories stored in National Archives Updated: Thursday, 24 Sep 2009, 5:32 PM EDT Published : Thursday, 24 Sep 2009, 4:57 PM EDT GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - StoryCorps wants to record your story for history. The project, a national effort to preserve local, oral history in the Library of Congress as part of the National Archives, is in West Michigan for four weeks. They want to record at least 120 interviews, and they want those who participate to come away with more than just a CD. StoryCorps mobile booth site supervisor Anna Walters said the conversations don't end when people leave the booth. The StoryCorps booth is an Airstream trailer parked in front of the Van Andel Public Museum. It's open 10:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Reservations are already filling up, and additional reservations will open at 10 a.m. EST on September 25, 2009. Reservations can be made at storycorps.org or by calling 800-850-4406. |
